An early postcard of “Yosemite Falls, Yosemite Valley, California.” Based on the background information below, the postcard was printed 1915-1920. Published by Desmond Service (#Y115). Not mailed or written on; almost like-new condition. (See scans of front and back.)
BACKGROUND: In 1915, the Desmond Park Service Company secured a twenty-year concession to operate camps, stores, and transportation [hence the “bus” in this postcard] service. They purchased the assets of the Sentinel Hotel, Camp Lost Arrow, and Camp Ahwahnee. The two camps were discontinued and a new venture made in the former Yosemite Lodge. They built the Glacier Point Hotel in 1917. With reorganization in 1920, it became the Yosemite National Park Company which consolidated with the Curry Company in 1925 to form the Yosemite Park and Curry Company.
