Description
Egyptian Sterling Silver Candlestick in the Form of a Hookah (Huqqa or Hubbly Bubbly). The present candlestick is complete with a smoke tube and a dangling small gadget to poke the coal.(There are many other names for the hookah: nargila, shisha, waterpipe, etc.) The height of the candlestick is 25 cm, the diameter of upper plate is 7.1 cm, the lower base is 7.4 cm, length of smoke pipe is 26.7 cm. It weighs ounces 12.9 ounces.
There a few hallmark stamps but they are difficult to read.
The one I could read is at the bottom of the candlestick.
This stamp reads from left to right: 90 [meaning 90% silver], a lotus flower [most likely the trade mark of the maker], and Arabic letter "th"

[indicating the year when the item is made, in this case !943-1944.] Exactly, it was made 77
years ago.
Such stamps are typical of Egyptian silver artworks.
This particular candlestick is beautifully engraved with an arabesque floral design. In excellent condition
