    Description

CONFEDERATE ARTILLERY LIMBER CHEST LOCK, McCLANAHAN’S VIRGINIA BATTERY
This iron lock with both of the original keys with it was found on the remains of an old confederate limber chest in the old McClanahan barn in Fort Valley (near Edinburg) Virginia.                                                                                                                                  It was on display along with other artifacts from the battery in the Woodstock Virginia Museum during the Civil War Centennial of 1961 to 1965.                                                                                                                                                                                                          This lock is 2 ½” x 2” wide with a 1 ½” high locking arm & has a 1 1/8”brass shield that slides over the key hole.
It is in good condition with light medium pits & has a dark brown patina.                                                                                                     It is frozen at the moment but soaking it in penetrating oil just may get it to work again!                                                                        It comes with a certificate of authenticity.                                                                                                                                                        See the Confederate side knife found with this lock listed separately.
